On Sunday 17 December 2017 a different variation of hitting a ball with a specialised piece of equipment will take place on the pristine polo field of Val de Vie Estate.
Protea cricketer JP Duminy will be hosting the JP 21 Super Eights Charity Cricket Tournament on a customised cricket pitch on the polo field, a first for Val de Vie Estate that is best known for hosting international polo events.
The charity cricket day is filled with top entertainment, celebrities and sport stars, while raising funds for the project. Confirmed team captains are JP Duminy, AB de Villiers, Faf du Plessis and Morne Morkel who will be joined by other cricket legends, sports stars and players, including Jean-Paul Duminy, Ryk Neethling, Jean de Villiers and Maps Maponyane.
The day will comprise of a fun-filled and unique Eight Over game. It gives an opportunity for all lovers of cricket to take part in a family day of entertainment and high-quality cricket with a tiered ticket system which makes it affordable and accessible for all enthusiasts. The choices run from an all-inclusive option to a fun picnic and food truck activation with music and a live auction which contribute to the excitement of the event. Add to that a good smattering of celeb spotting, live entertainment and what is certain to be a perfect Winelands afternoon.
Established in 2014, the JP21 project has a special interest in reigniting enthusiasm for sport and providing a platform to do so for underprivileged children. The JP21 Project, the brainchild of South African cricket legend JP Duminy and a passion project for him and his wife Sue, aims to create a new, positive culture; a culture that embodies core values of respect, kindness and transparency through sports education and team playing. Critically the project serves to cultivate leadership development and life skills.
