Our Vision

“Becoming one of South Africa’s most desired wine brands producing consistent premium quality wines from one of the most comprehensive range of Rhone varietals available locally having a winemaking philosophy with a natural approach of minimal interference.”

Val de Vie Estate produces fine wines derived from traditional Rhone varietals. Inspired by the acclaimed vintages of Chateauneuf-du-Pape, the estate has fast become recognised for its exceptional wines. No less than 11 different Rhone varietals are grown at Val de Vie, setting apart the estate as a true celebration of French heritage and South African terroir.

Val de Vie Estate is widely recognised for its exceptional wines. The French Huguenots who settled in the valley during the second half of the seventeenth century brought with them their skills and passion for winemaking. In 1783, the original land – now known as Val de Vie Estate – was granted to Huguenot descendant Abraham Andries le Roux.

The region’s climate – with Southeastern winds cooling the vineyards during hot summers, and moody North Westerly gales bringing rain in winter – plays a strong role in the making of excellent wines. Over the years, Val de Vie Estate has won numerous prestigious international wine awards, including Best in its Class at the International Wine & Spirit Competition.
